VEES DISHES CHILI CRAB (SINGAPORE STYLE)

If you enjoy crab as much as I do; then you should absolutely try this Singapore chili crab recipe.The Singapore style crab recipe is one of those recipes I have come to enjoy and love absolutely. I try to recreate this recipe any chance I get. The taste of this delicacy is heavenly and its a mixture of spicy because of the addition of chilli, sweet and tasty all at the same time.

VEES DISHES CHILLI CRAB

TOTAL TIME - 15 minutes
 Prep 5 min
 Cook 10 min

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 large crabs 
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 4 dried red chillies soaked 
  • 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/4 tomato sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 inch root ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt / to taste
  • half cooking spoon water
  • Fresh plantain leaves

METHOD OF PREPARATION
  1.  Remove the crab's top shell and chop the crab into quarters. Crack the claws to allow the flavors to penetrate. Remove the juicy and gray gills and save.
  2.  Place chopped onion and chilli in a food processor and process to a paste.  
  3.  Add oil to wok place over medium-high heat and heat until slightly smoking. Add crab and stir fry for 5 minutes till crab is cooked and shell turns red; meat will turn white when done. 
  4.   Add the onion and chilli puree, ginger and garlic fry until fragrant about a minute. Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, saved juicy and gray insides, sugar, water and salt; mix through. Stir fry for 5 minutes to fully Incorporated ingredients. 
  5.   Remove from heat and arrange on Plantain leaves. Serve warm
